RYDAN breed

More attention when new life begins.

Foaling is one of the most important—and at the same time, most unpredictable—moments in horse breeding. In the days leading up to the birth, breeders keep a particularly close watch on their mares—often for many nights on end. RYDAN breed is in the works. It is designed specifically for this time.

Designed for use in the foaling barn.

The system continuously monitors the mare and records changes in her movement, resting, and lying behavior, as well as selected physiological parameters such as heart rate and skin temperature.

It’s not the individual reading that matters. RYDAN breed analyzes the trends in multiple signals and takes the mare’s individual patterns into account. If relevant changes are detected, a notification appears in the RYDAN app. This allows you to make more informed decisions about when it makes sense to check on the mare in person.

Observe movement and restlessness

Identify changes in activity, periods of rest, and changes in position.

Classify data close to the body

Heart rate and skin temperature provide additional information about the mare’s activity profile.

Take individual patterns into account

Not every mare behaves the same way. What matters is the change from her individual normal state.

Experience remains irreplaceable.

RYDAN breed helps you apply your knowledge of horses and breeding experience at just the right moment. It is developed through collaboration with people who have been breeding horses for many years and are familiar with foaling. Their experiences play a key role in its development.

We are planning discounted rates and multi-device packages for breeders—featuring only the features that are actually needed in the foaling barn.

Questions from breeders.

Here are questions we are frequently asked.

Can RYDAN breed reliably detect the onset of foaling?

No. RYDAN breed is not a medical diagnostic device or an automatic birth alert system. The system detects changes in the recorded data and may indicate that a personal check is advisable.

Is RYDAN breed intended for long-term use?

The breeding version is primarily intended for specific use during the expected foaling season. The exact recommended duration of wear is determined as part of product and animal welfare testing.

What data does RYDAN breed track?

The plan is to track movement, activity and rest patterns, heart rate, and skin temperature near the body. Which features will be available at launch depends on the results of technical and practical validation.

Can I monitor multiple mares at the same time?

Yes. For the breeding version, we plan to include multiple profiles, in which the data and notes for several mares will be displayed separately.

Can RYDAN breed replace a camera or barn monitoring systems?

No. The system complements existing procedures. It does not replace camera surveillance, regular barn inspections, experience, or veterinary care. Combining it with a camera system may be a good idea.

Will there be discounts for multiple devices?

Plans call for multi-device plans for breeders with multiple broodmares, breeding associations, and stud farms. The market price for the breeding version is also expected to be lower than that of RYDAN one. The specific terms and conditions will be finalized before the market launch.

Do I have to sign up for a year-long subscription?

For any subscription features that may be developed, a seasonal model is being considered that is based on the typical foaling season. This way, breeders will only pay for the period during which they need the system.

Are there plans to collaborate with breeding associations?

Yes. We also have a background in breeding, which is why RYDAN seeks partnerships with breeding associations, stud farms, and experienced breeders. Possible collaborations include pilot projects, member benefits, joint events, and special promotions.

When will RYDAN breed be available?

RYDAN breed is currently in the development and validation phase. Interested breeders, stud farms, and associations can already sign up for pilot projects and information about the market launch via our contact form.
